BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Animal Control officers say they've removed 29 dogs from an 82-year-old woman's home on Thursday in Burlington Township.
Officers say the home was unsanitary and smelled of feces.
The dogs were taken to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter, where they'll be vaccinated and should be ready for adoption next week.
Reports say a worker from Adult Protective Services came to evaluate the woman's welfare.
In the meantime investigators expect to charge the woman with animal cruelty.
This is not an isolated incident. Back in 2006, 40 dogs were removed from the woman's home.
