LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A House panel has approved legislation that would take away some welfare benefits.
Under the bill parents in the Family Independence Program would not be eligible for benefits if a child under 16 is repeatedly absent from school.
The Department of Human Service put a similar policy in place in October, but this would write it into law.
The measure will now head to the full House.
This is the topic of our Fast Feedback Thursday.
We want to know what you think. Do you think taking away welfare benefits based on how often a child attends school is okay?
