HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Friends and family are preparing to say goodbye Thursday to a West Michigan man killed during a hit and run over the weekend.
Joshua Owens will be laid to rest, and in this time of need for his family the community is working to take care of some of the expenses.
The 24-year-old was hit and killed in front of the Itty Bitty Bar in Holland Township just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday.
Owens' older brother says he was out celebrating his wife's 21st birthday, and went across the street to get cab fair from an ATM when two drivers hit him.
Jeremie Collins and Maly Phongsavanh were later arrested and are facing charges in his death.
Owens' funeral will be held Thursday morning at Real Life Fellowship in Holland. That's on 15th Street.
The service is at 11:00 a.m.
Owens leaves behind a wife and toddler. We're told Owens did not have life insurance so a memorial fund has been set up in his name to help cover expenses and help his young family.
Anyone looking to donate can do so at any Huntington Bank.
