BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Battle Creek man accused of accidentally killing his friend during a drinking game has learned his fate.

On Friday Samuel Castanier was sentenced to spend seven to 22 and a half years in prison.

Police say Castanier accidentally shot Nicholas Ullrich during a birthday celebration.

Police say the two were playing a game with loaded guns when Castanier pulled the trigger, shooting and killing Ullrich.

Castanier told police that he knew the gun was loaded, but said he didn’t know there was a bullet in the chamber.
