WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES remain for all of West Michigan for an accumulation of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain and even plain rain.  The ADVISORIES last until 8 PM everywhere save for Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties where the expiration time is 1 PM.  Snowfall ranges from 1" to 3" near and south of I-96 including Kalamazoo.  North of I-96, amounts may be greater in a range from 2" to 4".  Once snow transitions to freezing rain, ice accumulations of 1/10" perhaps upwards of 2/10" are possible.  Plus, secondary and back roads are likely to remain icy even when air temperatures reach the middle 30s this afternoon.  Please be careful traveling!

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A Battle Creek man accused of accidentally killing his friend during a drinking game has learned his fate.

On Friday Samuel Castanier was sentenced to spend seven to 22 and a half years in prison.

Police say Castanier accidentally shot Nicholas Ullrich during a birthday celebration.

Police say the two were playing a game with loaded guns when Castanier pulled the trigger, shooting and killing Ullrich.

Castanier told police that he knew the gun was loaded, but said he didn’t know there was a bullet in the chamber.
