Celebration Cinema trying to get liquor license

PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - It looks like the Kalamazoo area could soon have two theaters serving alcohol.
M-Live is reporting Celebration Cinema in Portage plans to begin serving beer, wine and mixed drinks later this year.
It announced the plans at Tuesday night's Portage City Council meeting.
The council reportedly approved the transfer of a liquor license to the theater.
The plan still needs approval from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
Celebration Cinema says this is not a reaction to the recent announcement that the Alamo Draft House will be taking over the old Rave Movie Theater in downtown Kalamazoo and serving alcohol. The company says this is just an expansion of a business plan it's used at other Celebration Cinema locations across the state.
