NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Three people are dead and an entire community in Newaygo County is asking why.
Police say Wednesday night, Charles Mark Hoover shot and killed his wife Marsha and his son Isaac on his property south of Baldwin before turning the gun on himself.
Investigators searched for Hoover for nine hours Wednesday night before eventually finding him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say they may never know what caused Hoover to do this, and there is no formal investigation, as the situation ended with Hoover's suicide.
Newschannel 3's Stacia Mullaney has more from Newaygo County.
UPDATE: Newschannel 3 has received the following statement given by the wife of Issac Hoover. It reads:
"I am beyond overwhelmed by this tragedy and ask that people please show compassion for mine and my daughters’ need for privacy during this time of immense loss. Isaac was an amazing father with a smile that once shared with you, stayed with you forever. His infamous laugh could only be described as contagious. He was one of the hardest working, yet gentlest men I have ever known. His genuine passion for those he loved was unparalleled. And he had a glow that spread to everyone around him. I realize that people have questions and want to know why this happened. I can’t even begin to understand this tragedy. I only know that Isaac would want me to protect and hold our daughters close. Mark and Marcia, while they may have had some unusual beliefs, they had always been very loving and kind to each other and everyone they came in contact with. None of this makes any sense."
