FABIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - In St. Joseph County, a family returned home after a vacation to an unpleasant surprise.

It happened on Elizabeth Drive in Fabius Township, just west of Three Rivers.

Jerry Ludwick and his family came home Tuesday after a long weekend away, to find peanut butter and Vaseline smeared across nearly every window and dripping from the door handles.

"They don't respect other people's property, for starters," Ludwick said. "They don't respect other people."

Ludwick told Newschannel 3 that he believes it was a group of kids targeting his teenage daughter, but he says the mess and the profanity is no joke.

"It was definitely done with intent," he said. "This isn't funny."

That's why he intends to prosecute.

At this point, investigators in St. Joseph County are still looking for the vandals.

"Malicious destruction of property here, and a lot of cleanup, restoration, however much it costs the family to clean the house," said St. Joseph County Sheriff Brad Balk. "They could be looking at paying for that, or depending on age, jail time."

As for cleanup, the Ludwicks say they haven't gotten that far yet.

Jerry did add as well that he feels his daughter is not without blame in the incident, as she said on Facebook she was going on vacation with her family.

He believes that told the vandals that the house was vacated.
