(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thursday night, the first-ever fully underground wine cave in the midwest has just opened, and it's right here in West Michigan.

The wine cave at Henderson Castle opened late Thursday afternoon, after years of planning and permits, and more than a year of construction.

The Victorian bed and breakfast has its own line of wines, using grapes grown on the property, which is then bottled by Fenn Valley Winery.

The Wine Cave at Henderson Castle is open from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. every day.

Proceeds from Thursday night's grand opening will benefit the Jim Gilmore Foundation and Downtown Kalamazoo development projects.
