GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Grand Rapids businessman admitted to forging endorsements on $750,000 worth of U.S. Treasury checks.

Mateo Velasquez-Garcia pled guilty to one count of forgery and one count of illegal re-entry by an alien.

The maximum penalty for forging U.S. Treasury checks is ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The maximum penalty for illegal re-entry is two years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.
