(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The same storm system that covered West Michigan in snow over the past few days is about to collide with another system in the northeast.

Experts say it could be a winter storm for the history books. Blizzard warnings are in effect right now from New York City to Maine.

Some areas could get more than two-feet of snow. Some neighborhoods that are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy are once again preparing for hurricane force winds, and storm surge.

Most airlines are giving up on flying into and out of some airports in the northeast because of the storm.

Flight-tracking website Flightaware says airlines have canceled 34 hundred flights on Friday and Saturday.

All flights from Gerald R. Ford Airport to Newark, Toronto and Laguardia in New York except for one have been canceled Friday.

At Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport there are some delays involving flights into Chicago.

If you're trying to head out you might want to call ahead.
