KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The month of April is dedicated to drawing attention to sexual assault awareness.
It's a national initiative to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities on how to prevent it.
A national study shows that one in six American women have been the victim of rape or an attempted rape.
Locally, the YWCA is hosting several events to bring attention to the issue.
Misty Larthridge, Program Director of the Domestic and Sexual Assault Program at the YWCA, joined us in the newsroom Saturday morning to talk about the events and how you can participate.
