BARRY COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Mud bogging could be coming soon to Barry County, and that idea is being met with more than a few dirty looks.

It's a story we broke two weeks ago.

Mud bogging is similar to a monster truck rally, but with more mud.

Thursday night, an ordinance for outdoor festivals, spearheaded by fans of the sport, went up for a vote.

One after another, people got up to support or disparage mud bogging, and over and over, the board explained to people that Thursday's meeting was not about mud bogging, but that the ordinance was for all outdoor events.

After nearly three hours, it was obvious the issue was so contentious that the board elected to do more research and tabled the vote.

Over the course of the meeting, many people asked the Hope Township Board to ban outdoor events altogether.

The board's attorney explained they can't do that, and all they can do is pass ordinances detailing the rules an event must follow.

They'll take up the discussion again on July 17.
