(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - France is warning passengers flying to the United States of flight delays over new security measures.

The Obama administration called for tighter security at foreign airports with direct flights to the United States earlier this week. The U.S. is concerned al-Qaida is trying to develop a new kind of bomb that can get through airport security.

They believe extremists with a passport from the U.S. or other Western country, could carry the new bomb on a plane undetected by airport security.

French government officials are not offering any details on the security measures. British airports boosted their security on Friday.Obama calling for tighter security at foreign airports
