GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - It appears the state will be able to use a private company to care for patients at a veteran's home in Grand Rapids.
Back in 2011, Governor Snyder ordered the state to privatize care at the home to save money.
Unions sued, though, saying that about 600 veterans are in danger because of low staffing and poorly trained workers.
Monday, the Michigan Civil Service Commission upheld the Governor's plan.
The contract workers are paid about $10 per hour--half of what the state workers are paid.
