LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - State Representatives reached across the aisle to tackle animal abuse in Michigan.
Republican Paul Muxlow and Democrat Harvey Santana introduced a new bill on Wednesday to create an animal abuser registry.
It would work in a similar fashion to the sex offender registry.
Under the bill, convicted animal abusers would have to register, pay a 50 dollar fee and notify police of address changes.
The American Civil Liberties Union in Michigan opposes the bill, saying it would be ineffective, costly, and a hindrance to rehabilitation.
