UPDATE: Man dies from burns in roadside fire

UPDATE: PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) — The Kent County Sheriff’s Department is reporting the death of an out-of-state man who was burned in a fire Saturday.
Deputies were called to U.S. 131 near Post Drive around 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Some drivers found the man on fire after they pulled over to put out a grass fire between the expressway and the northbound off-ramp leading to Post Drive. They used sand and their own shirts to extinguish the flames on the man.
The man had burns on 100 percent of his body. He died after being taken to the hospital.
Investigators do not suspect foul play. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The man’s name is being withheld until his family can be notified.
The man drove a silver Chevrolet Impala to the scene. It was parked along the shoulder of the off-ramp.

KENT COUNTY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) -- Kent County Dispatch confirms a man was found on the side of US-131 in Plainfield Township Saturday afternoon with burns. Dispatch confirms witnesses helped put out the fire by putting dirt on the man.
Investigators are currently interviewing those witnesses on scene to find out how the man caught fire.
The man's condition is not known at this time.A crew is headed to the scene now.
