WYOMING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Veterans in West Michigan will soon have a new and improved place to go for healthcare.
The V.A. broke ground on a new veterans outpatient clinic in Wyoming Thursday morning.
It's being built right next door to Metro Health Hospital.
The location was chosen due to more veterans living in the Grand Rapids area.
"This has been about a dozen years in the making," said Mary Beth Skupien, the Director of Battle Creek VA Healthcare. "We're going to have expanded services for veterans at this facility; not only primary care and mental health, but also some specialty care too."
It will be almost three times the size of the current clinic in Grand Rapids.
Construction is expected to take about 18 months, and they plan to move in by November 2014.
