KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A watchdog group wants to shut down the Palisades Nuclear Plant in Covert Township.

The group, known as Beyond Nuclear, held a meeting Wednesday night at the Kalamazoo Public Library.

Beyond Nuclear says the movement to shutter Palisades is inspired by similar actions in Vermont and New York.

Nuclear plants there are also owned by Entergy Nuclear, which owns Palisades.

The group has a similar meeting planned for Saturday at the South Haven Memorial Library.
