DETROIT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Austin Jackson came out of his slump Wednesday in a big way, ending an 0-19 stretch with three hits against the A's.

Torii Hunter raised his batting average a full 8 points with three hits of his own.

But the best news to come out of the win over the A's was the performance of Justin Verlander.

The right-hander rebounded from a miserable start, allowing a pair of home runs in the first, before settling down nicely the rest of the way.

He wound up going 6 innings, and allowing 9 hits with two earned runs.

Verlander is now 7-7 on the season, and has a still un-Verlander ERA of 4.71.
