(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - With the fall sports seasons soon to begin practice, the Newschannel 3 Sports Department decided to visit a literary treasure penned by a local college coach.

The book is "Sportuality: Finding Joy in the Games," and it was written by K-College volleyball coach Jeanne Hess.

She says it's a critical way to think about competition, and is a good read for anyone in sports: athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and even media.

From her perspective, sports should be less divisive and more about peace, understanding, and joy.

Among her desires, Hess would like to see terms of war and violence banished from sports lexicon.

Her book is available at several local bookstores, K-College, and on Amazon.
