Woman tries out for NFL team

Updated: Monday, March 4 2013, 08:48 AM EST
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) – It was a first for the NFL this weekend. Lauren Silberman became the first woman to try out to make a team.

She went to a scouting combine in the New York area, but had a rough go of it.

She made two poor kickoff attempts before aggravating a leg injury she suffered leading up to the tryout.

"I've always been an athlete, I've always been a gamer and when I had the opportunity to be in the NFL, one of the world's most competitive leagues, I absolutely had to take the chance," said Lauren Silberman.

Silberman was a soccer player in college. This was her first time trying football.
