Culpepper gets start vs. Panthers
The Detroit Lions are going to start Daunte Culpepper for the
second straight week. Coach Rod Marinelli confirmed his plans
Wednesday, saying Culpepper would be the No. 1 quarterback on
the road against the Carolina Panthers.
Culpepper was 5-of-10 for 104 yards in his Detroit debut against
the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He signed a two-year deal last week, ending his brief retirement
after making 11 lackluster appearances the previous two seasons for
Oakland and Miami. A knee injury stunted his stellar career three
years ago in Minnesota.
The Lions (0-9) are two-touchdown underdogs against the NFC
South-leading Panthers (7-2).
