(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - New York Yankees' star Alex Rodriguez filed a federal lawsuit Monday against Major League Baseball, the MLB Players' Association and the office of the Commissioner of Baseball.

He's hoping to overturn his 162-game suspension over doping allegations.

On Saturday an arbitrator upheld most of Major League Baseball's suspension of the star.

He'll sit out the entire 2014 season and the postseason.

The break will cost Rodriguez $25-million in salary.
