TRAVERSE CITY (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings are back in action.

The Red Wings opened training camp today in Traverse City, still feeling the sting from last year's loss to Anaheim in the Western Conference finals ... but eager to move on.

The foundation of last season's team returns, including leading scorer Pavel Datsyuk and goaltender Dominik Hasek.

The 42-year-old Hasek says he considered retirement but decided he was still excited about getting back on the ice.

Among the newcomers is Brian Rafalski, who left New Jersey to sign a free-agent deal with Detroit.

He says he's glad to join the Red Wings after rooting for them as a kid. He's a native of Dearborn, just outside Detroit.
