ALLEN PARK (AP) - The Detroit Lions have signed rookie safety Eric Frampton and released rookie linebacker Johnny Baldwin.

Frampton is one of Oakland's two fifth-round picks in April's NFL draft. He was released yesterday by the Raiders.

He played both free and strong safety last season at Washington State. Baldwin also was a fifth-round pick.

The Lions open the season at Oakland on Sunday.

Detroit also signed eight players to its practice squad.
