NEW YORK (AP) - A New York Giants official tells The Associated Press that former Michigan State wide receiver Plaxico Burress shot himself in the right thigh while at a nightclub.

The wound was not life-threatening. It was not clear at what club the shooting took place. The Giants say Burress has been released from a New York City hospital.

Burress injured a hamstring two weeks ago against the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants said Friday he would not play Sunday against the Redskins in Washington.
