Former corrections officer due in court over sex assault charges

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A former Calhoun County corrections officer is due in court Friday on sexual assault charges.

Troy Pope is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy back in 2004.

Friday a judge will decide if there's enough evidence to send him to trial on that criminal sexual conduct charge.

Pope is already awaiting trial in another case where he's accused of paying two other teens to have sex with him.

Pope served as a corrections officer at the Calhoun County Jail for more than five years  before being fired after an internal investigation.
