Family seeks return of 6-year-old's grave marker
VERMONTVILLE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan family is pleading for answers after someone stole their little boy's grave marker earlier this week.
6-year-old Zion Jesus Maldonado was buried in a Vermontville cemetery on August 16th.
Zion died in his sleep after a long battle with a rare brain-development condition.
His mother Michelle says they placed a lawn ornament, which lights up at night, at his grave site.
She says it's perfect because he loved toy trucks and was afraid of the dark.
"Just bring it back," Michelle said. "I don't need to know who you are, why he did it. He just needs his light back, and he was an innocent little boy. He never hurt anybody, he only brightened the world, and you just darkened his."
If you have any information about the missing marker, call the Eaton County Sheriff's Office at (517)543-3512.
