Sturgis murder suspect involved in Kalamazoo embezzlement in 2004
STURGIS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We're learning new information about the prime suspect in the murder of a beloved West Michigan businessman.
Right now, Andy Brown is only charged with embezzling money from Locey CPA in Sturgis.
On Friday, we looked back in our archives and found Brown was charged with stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Parks Foundation of Kalamazoo County back in 2004, where he was treasurer at the time.
He did pay all that money back, and the charge does not show up on his criminal record.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff believes that embezzlement is just the beginning of the story in Brown's current criminal case.
He's also suspected of killing his former boss, Dave Locey, in his accounting office on Wednesday morning.
Prosecutors say at this time there isn't enough evidence yet to charge Brown with murder.
