Benefit held for family of local girl battling cancer

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thursday night, a community came together to show its support for 10-year-old Zoey Pesch, who is battling cancer.

We first told you about Zoey in February.

Right now, a benefit concert is being held at Haven Church in Parchment off North Sprinkle Road to help her family with medical expenses.

A 15-year-old drummer from Parchment High School put the whole show together himself after hearing Zoey's struggle with Leukemia.

Jimmy Welty brought his band, The Broken Scene, and six others from across West Michigan for the event.

"It's been really fun putting this together, seeing people really responsive and enthusiastic about the whole thing," Welty said.

All the proceeds from Thursday night's evetn go to Zoey's family.

Right now, Zoey is in a treatment study at a children's hospital in Philadelphia.
