(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Today, federal court judges heard arguments about new, proposed warning labels for cigarette packaging.
The FDA wants large warning labels placed on every pack.
The warning labels would show graphic images and make claims that cigarettes cause cancer.
Anti-tobacco groups and the government believe the graphic labels will deter young Americans from smoking.
Tobacco companies however argue the requirement to carry those warning labels violates one of their first amendment rights.
