Study: Americans getting fewer calories from fast food

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Americans are getting less of their calories from fast food, and it's a trend that's puzzling researchers.

A study from the Centers for Disease Control and prevention found that on the average day, U.S. adults get roughly 11 percent of their calories from fast food.

That number is down slightly from the 13 percent reported the last time the study was run.

The survey covers the years 2007 through 2010.

The authors couldn't explain the drop, and at least one nutrition professor casts doubt on the latest results, saying people may be under-reporting their consumption.
