WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

17th person from Mich. Dies from fungal meningitis

MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan health officials have confirmed another death in the state linked to the nationwide meningitis outbreak.

An 80-year-old Traverse City area man is the 17th person from Michigan to die as a result of contaminated steroids supplied by a Massachusetts pharmaceutical company.

Those steroids were used in injections to treat neck and back pain and have since been recalled.

Officials say at least 258 people in the state have contracted the illness that is part of a nationwide outbreak.
