Geyser erupts after 8 year wait
YELLOWSTONE NAT'L PARK, Wy. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A geyser at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming finally decided to put on a show Wednesday.
The Steamboat Geyser erupted, sending steam and water up to 300 feet in the air.
It marks the first time the geyser has erupted in 8 years.
While the Steamboat Geyser is the world's tallest active geyser, it is unpredictable, sometimes waiting months or decades between eruptions.
About 30 or 40 people were lucky enough to be there for the rare event.
Yellowstone has 300 geysers, which is more than half the world's total.
