Worker makes accidental discovery in Alberta

ALBERTA, Canada (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - You might call it an accidental archaeological dig--a backhoe operator dropped his shovel and discovered parts of a dinosaur.

Crews were working on an oil pipeline in Alberta, and found the fossilized remains of a large, prehistoric creature.

The crew immediately stopped work and called in an expert.

The paleontologist says finding a fossil this well preserved and complete is incredibly rare.

It's still not clear exactly what species the dinosaur was.

A research team is now scrambling to carefully remove the fossil before winter sets in.
