Chandelier in DC more than meets the eye

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A chandelier currently hanging in the Center for Strategic and International Studies is more than meets the eye.

It looks stunning as you walk in, but the whole picture isn't clear until you actually stand underneath it.

Every one of the 425 hanging pendants combine to make a map of the world that is only seen from underneath.

The piece is actually a functional display as well, illustrating global data reports, such as GDP growth rate, renewable water resources, and energy consumption.

There is a lighting animation code paired with the chandelier, and the system automatically updates as information changes online.
