Heavy rains cause flash flooding in Colorado
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Heavy rains in Colorado have caused flash flooding and mudslides to sweep up several vehicles, and some of it was caught on camera.
A mudslide closed a highway and stranded vehicles in the fast-moving water.
The National Weather Service says about 1.3 inches of rain fell in the area burned by the Waldo Canyon fire west of Colorado Springs last year.
Areas burned by wildfires are vulnerable to flash floods, because the soil can't absorb as much water.
Police have reported three people with injuries so far, and at least one home swept away.
