Terrorism ruled out as cause of Kenya airport fire
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Kenyan authorities say they are ruling out terrorism as a cause of the inferno that destroyed the arrivals hall at the capital's main airport. International flights have resumed and officials improvised immigration and luggage routines.
Kenyan officials, assisted by members of the FBI, began investigating the cause of Wednesday's fire.
A security official said Thursday the investigation has ruled out terrorism and was now trying to determine if the fire was intentional or accidental. The official insisted on anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information while the investigation was ongoing.
The fire turned into an inferno in part because of a slow and inadequate response from fire fighters. No serious injuries were reported.
The Kenya Airports Authority said it was working to ensure a return to normal service.
