Teens claim boredom led to murder
DUNCAN, Oklahoma (NEWSCHANNEL 3) There has been a shocking murder in Oklahoma and an even more shocking confession.
"He was asked why they did and they said we were bored. We didn't have anything to do and we decided to kill somebody," said Police Chief Daniel Ford.
Three teens have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 22-year-old Christopher Lane.
Two of the boys, 15 and 16-years-old, were charged with first degree murder. The third, a 17-year-old, is the one who told police they were bored. He was charged with being an accessory.
Lane, a college baseball player, was jogging near his girlfriend's home last Friday when he was shot in the back in broad daylight.
"There's not going to be any good to come out of this, because it was just so senseless. There wasn't anything he did or could have done. He was an athlete going for a jog like he would do five or six times a week, said Peter Lane, the father of the victim.
Police sources say the three suspects had plans to carry out a second killing the same night.
