Exploded meteor causing dust belt in stratosphere
RUSSIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Back in February, a meteor exploded over Russia.
Now, scientists are saying that it also left a trail of dust around earth, which is now sparking new studies on meteoric debris.
Scientists say the explosion created a new dust belt in Earth's stratosphere, filled with hundreds of tons of material.
That dust belt was still detectable three months later.
The study has researchers now looking at whether or not meteor debris can affect cloud formation.
