Taskforce recommends initiatives after Superstorm Sandy
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A presidential task force charged with developing a strategy for rebuilding areas damaged by Superstorm Sandy is recommending new initiatives.
The 69 policy initiatives are aimed at helping coastal communities prepare for future storms as sea levels continue to rise.
The report released Monday by the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force calls for the development of a more technologically advanced electrical grid less likely to be damaged in a crisis.
It also says the creation of better planning tools and flooding standards for communities rebuilding storm-damaged areas.
