White House presents evidence for Syrian attack
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Obama administration is presenting its evidence that the Syrian government carried out a large-scale chemical weapons attack.
The President says he has not yet made a final decision about taking military action, but members of his national security team have made it clear that there will be a U.S. response.
Secretary of State John Kerry went over the highlights of a 4-page unclassified U.S. government report Friday afternoon.
It details that Syrian President Bashar Assad carried out a large scale chemical weapons attack last week in Damascus, killing more than 1,400 people.
Most of the victims were women and children.
Several lawmakers are demanding Congress vote to authorize any military action against Syria.
The Secretary of Defense says the U.S. military is ready to act on the President's orders.
