Damage from Sandy may have led to boardwalk fire
NEW JERSEY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Investigators say last year's Superstorm Sandy may have indirectly caused last week's destructive boardwalk fire in New Jersey.
We strongly recommend to all Sandy affected businesses and home owners that they take measures to have any flood submerged electrical systems inspected and replaced if necessary, said Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.
Officials say Sandy damaged electrical wiring in Seaside Park and Seaside Heights and that sparked the boardwalk fire that destroyed more than 50 businesses.
They say there may be more damaged wiring underneath other boardwalks, businesses and homes and they're urging all property owners to have their wiring inspected
