Pilot suffers heart attack mid-flight
BOISE, Idaho (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A plane headed to Seattle, Washington from Houston had to make an emergency landing after a medical emergency in the cockpit.
The United Airlines plane landed safely in Boise, Idaho.
The airline says the captain suffered a heart attack.
The announcement came over the cabin PA system, waking some of the passengers up on United flight 1603. It didn't take long for word to spread through the plane about what happened to the pilot.
Several passengers stepped up to help.
"Several people helped give him CPR all the way down, then they got the EMT's on there and they got him off," said passenger Scott Hyde.
The captain was pronounced dead Thursday night in a Boise hospital.
The flight went on to make it safely to its final destination.
