Republicans trying to stop Affordable Care Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - House republican leaders are trying again to stop the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare.
It could lead to a confrontation with the Senate and a possible government shutdown.
The House and Senate have to agree on a stop-gap funding bill that would keep the government running after the end of the fiscal year. That's September 30th.
But conservatives are insisting that the bill should prohibit all spending on the health care law.
If it passes, the Senate would likely strip that provision out of the bill and send it back to the House.
The bill will have to pass both chambers to avoid a government shutdown.
