Surfer rides 100 foot wave, then saves woman
HAWAII (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Saving the life of a fellow surfer and then riding possibly the biggest wave ever surfed is all in a day's work for Carlos Burle.
The Brazilian surfer was videotaped riding a nearly 100-foot wall of water off the coast of Hawaii.
But his day wasn't over.
Fellow surfer Maya Gabeira fell of her board in a wipeout and went under pounding waves.
Burle caught her on a jet ski and dragged her to the beach where she was resuscitated.
Even with a possible record in his name, Burle says saving Maya's life was the best prize of the day.
