Brazil rolls out encrypted email to thwart NSA spies
BRAZIL (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Brazil is attempting to stop the NSA from accessing government workers' emails by encrypting it.
The new encrypted mail service will be mandatory for government workers by the second half of next year. One for private citizens is in the works.
There's just one catch to the system. If an email is sent to an outside program like Gmail, the entire system is compromised.
The program is in response to leaked NSA documents that show Brazil is the top Latin American target for U.S. spies.
