Bill would crack down on military sexual assaults

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A comprehensive bill that would crack down on sexual assault in the military is headed to President Obama's desk Friday.

The Senate approved the bill late Thursday night.

Under the bill, commanders would be stripped of their authority to overturn jury convictions and victims of sexual assault would be given a legal counsel.

It also would provide more than $630-million for military personnel, ships, aircraft and bases.
