Fire breaks out at mall in LA

LOS ANGELES (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Some 200 firefighters raced to save a burning strip mall in the Los Angeles area Wednesday.

The fire broke out around 9:00 p.m. local time. They believe it started in a discount store and quickly spread to surrounding buildings through the ceiling.

At one point they had to pull back when the roofs of two stores collapsed.

It took about three-hours to contain the fire.

Thursday morning crews were still on scene dealing with hot spots.
