Graffiti poses pope as superhero

ROME (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - He's become a hero to many, and now Pope Francis is a superhero.

An artist has painted a giant mural of the Pontiff in Rome just a few blocks away from the Vatican.

It shows Francis flying in a pose like Superman.

People in the area are calling the graffiti "Super Pope."

Francis is shown holding a bag with the scarf of his favorite soccer team.

The bag has the word "values" written on it in Spanish, the pope's native language.

Since Superman fights for truth and justice, some Catholics are saying the art symbolizes Pope Francis' battle to eliminate corruption and unite the church.
